Head Golf Pro
Gabriel Rickards
Gabe is joining the staff at Skyway Golf Course after previously serving as the Head Golf Professional at Green Brook Country Club in Caldwell, New Jersey. Prior to that, Gabe gained valuable experience working as the 1st Assistant Golf Professional at Alpine Country Club. Gabe has also worked as an Assistant at The Learning Center at Galloping Hill, Concordia Golf Club, and Applegarth Driving Range.
Throughout his almost 20 years working in the golf industry Gabe is most passionate about elevating the customer’s experience while at the golf course, administering events and tournaments for large groups, and teaching the game of golf to all skill levels.
Gabe’s teaching philosophy is tailored to meet the needs of the individual. Each student has their own range of abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. It is mainly up to the coach to determine the best cause of action. We live in an instant gratification world, so it is important to get results quickly. Teaching golf must be effective but it must also be fun and engaging. The real skill of teaching golf is taking something that is complex and making it very simple and easy to understand. All the great instructors understand, “less is more.” A great coach can look at a player and determine which one or two switches they can flip in order to turn on all the lights on the dashboard. Golf instruction must be simple, factual, and confirmed by our research. Being mentored by 2 different Top 100 instructors and teaching golf to people with all skill levels, Gabe is confident he can help you achieve your goals.
